Former Gills players,
including some who graced Priestfield Stadium more than half-a
century ago, enjoyed a nostalgic evening with their adoring fans the
day after Gills defeated Shrewsbury Town in the League Two play-off
final.
Over 25 former
players from all decades were joined by Simon Royce, Nicky Southall,
Andy Hessenthaler and Gills young player of the season, Jack Payne,
who were warmly welcomed into the 4-4-2 Sports & Social Club in
Featherby Road, for an evening which raised over £650 for charity.
The GISC Player of the Year for
2008/2009 was also announced at the Legends night.
Defender Simon King walked away with
both the GISC Player of the Year and GISC Away Player of the Year
award.
Goalkeeper Simon Royce came second
place with talented former Spurs winger Andy Barcham in third
position. The GISC Supporter of the Year award was presented to
Jason Lyndon.
