18/03/2009 - Social Event: GISC Quiz Night - Monday 20th April 2009


March Winners: The GISC, Pam and Keith would like to thank all the teams who entered the March quiz night, which was the biggest yet with 9 teams competing for the Jack Ackril Memorial Trophy.

Four teams finished the evening with 38 points, so a tie-break question of: How many standing ovations did Gordon Brown receive from U.S. Congress when he addressed them in March 2009? was used.

"The Flamborough Rat Catchers" guessed the correct answer of 19 which saw them crowned quiz champions for March. The final standings were:-

1st - The Flamborough Rat Catches - 38 points (guessed 19 on tie-break)

2nd - We told you Ii was Nokia! - 38 points (guessed 9 on the tie-break)

3rd- Stimson Out.....Corden In - 38 points (guessed 5 on the tie-break)

4th - The Dipsticks - 38 points (guessed 3 on the tie-break)

5th - The Bare Bones - 31 points

6th - Markless - 30 points  \  Lost without Neil....Come back all is forgiven - 30 points

8th - Nanas on the run from the law - 25 points

9th - The Fabulous Thickos - 19 points

The quiz nights have currently raised £798 towards the GISC 2008/2009 away coach travel. We look forward to seeing you all at the next event.

QUIZ NIGHT

Split into six themed sections the quiz will include:-

In The News - Current Affairs
Quick Ten - 10 general knowledge questions
Specialist Round - 10 questions on one mystery subject
Connections - General knowledge with a difference
Wipeout round - Answer as many questions as you can but don't get one wrong!

Drinks available at club prices - Free buffet

Date:-       Monday 20th April 2009
Time:-       7.45pm for 8.00pm start
Venue:-     Brasenose Club, Gillingham
Cost:-        £2 per player - up to 6 players per team

Prizes will be presented to the winners with prizes also available for the second and final placed teams.

The entry fee will be collected on the evening of the quiz with all monies raised going towards the GISC Away Travel operation.

The event is open to both members and non-members with Gills fans and non-Gills fans welcome to attend.

Where is the Brasenose Club?

The Brasenose Club is located at 168 Nelson Road (the same road as Gillingham Bus Station) and is the venue for our AGM`s.

It is within walking distance of Gillingham train station (5-10 mins), Gillingham bus station (5 mins) and of course Priestfield Stadium (10-15 mins).
