SUPPORTER OF THE YEAR 2015 - BRIAN DAVIES

The GISC are delighted to announce that Brian Davies, who has followed the Gills home and away for over 70 years, has been awarded the Supporter of the Year award for 2014/2015.

When being told about the award by chairman Neil Klee a shocked and delighted Brian said: "I have supported Gillingham for over 70 years since the time when my grandfather and father first took me to Priestfield. In the early days, we stood at the Chatham End right across the corner leaning on the barrier by the old Gordon Road stand.

"As the years passed by, I gravitated to sitting in the old Medway Stand, and when the new Gordon Road Stand was opened I booked my season ticket in same area, just opposite the penalty area at the Rainham end.

Brian Davies Receives His Award

"I have two children who I indoctrinated to support the Gills and they in turn have passed this passion on to their children so we are all involved as a family irrespective of where we live."

Brian continued: "As a shareholder and season ticket holder for many years, I have lived through the ups and downs of the Gills remembering our trips to Wembley - the extra time that Mark Halsey found when we played Manchester City!

"My other interest relating to the Gills is keeping records of Referees, home and away and looking up on the Football League appointments before each game to see who has been designated for the Gills. Often when I see the records it fills me with alarm! Friends who sit near me wait for the referee information with interest!"

Commenting on his award bring concluded: "To be chosen as Supporter of the Year was quite a shock but I count it as a great honour. I look forward to our adventures travelling the country so thank you to all involved in making our away travels so enjoyable."

GISC SPONSOR JOHN EGAN, LUKE NORRIS AND LAUREN WILLIAMS

The Gills Independent Supporters Club are delighted to announce our sponsorship of John Egan, Luke Norris and Gils Ladies captain Lauren Williams.

We are the full player sponsor for John Egan and Lauren Williams, and fans sponsor for Luke Norris.

John Egan Sponsorship Luke Norris SposorshipLauren Williams Profile Picture

Republic of Ireland under-21 international John Egan joined the Gills on a two year contract having been released by Sunderland.

Egan never made a first team appearance while at the Stadium of Light but he has had enjoyed loan spells at Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Bradford.

He has represented his country at three different age groups (U17, U19 & U21), making 18 appearances in total - six of which for the Under-21 side.

Luke Norris signed for the Gills in July 2014 after rejecting a new deal at Brentford. The forward made four appearances for the Bees after joining the club’s youth programme in 2010 and scored one goal, that coming in a JPT tie against AFC Wimbledon.

Loan spells followed at Boreham Wood, Northampton and Dagenham & Redbridge where his goal scoring form was impressive. Across all three stints he netted 9 times in 32 appearances.

He has signed a two year deal at Priestfield keeping him at the club until the end of the 2015/16 season.

With the Gills Ladies now playing at Priestfield we have also become the player sponsor for captain Lauren Williams.

Lauren Williams In Action

Lauren, a defender, spent nine years with Arsenal before signing for the Gills.

Former Gills Ladies manager Ian Varley was delighted to have secured the signing of Lauren saying: "Lauren is a quality player and I'm delighted she has agreed to sign for us.

"She's someone who I've been after for a while and I'm sure she'll have a big season and prove to be a very important player for us.

"Again it's a massive signing for us and hopefully the first of many this month."

The GISC name and badge should appear in the match day programme from Saturday's home game against Scunthorpe United.

We wish John, Luke and Lauren all the best for the 2014/2015 season.
