Gillingham FC On This Day: A new Gills book by David Elligate

Lifelong Gills fan and GISC member David Elligate has been keeping himself busy in the past few months unearthing a vast array of facts about Kent’s only Football League club.

You can read the results of his research in a brilliant new book
Gillingham FC On This Day:  History, Facts & Figures from Every Day of the Year.

Making an ideal Christmas gift, there are nearly 900 fascinating facts about the club we all love. Written in diary form with individual diary entries for every day of the year, plus multiple listings on busier dates, David’s book is the only one available that covers our whole 116 year history from our formation as New Brompton FC in the Napier Arms smoking room to three trips to Wembley in the last ten years.

And it’s got the lot - the great games, the great players, the triumphs and tragedies, the signings, sackings and scandals.  Things that everyone likes to remember, like promotions and footballing records, to things the club would prefer you to forget, like almost failing to gain Football League status in 1920 and what really happened to long-standing manager Archie Clark.

David’s 208 page book has been produced by specialist sports book publishers Pitch Publishing and is available from Amazon for £6.95 new including free postage. To purchase simply click the buy from Amazon link on the right hand side. The book can also be purchased in the Gillingham FC Megastore for £9.99.

Whether learning about our past or reliving it Gillingham On This Day will give hours of enjoyment to every fan.  And as Guy Butters says in the Foreword “Here’s to the next 116 years.”

David has also kindly donated a signed copy of his book which will be included in the GISC Christmas Draw.
