07/05/2008 - Simon Royce named Player of the Year \ Robin and Brian win fans award

Gillingham goalkeeper Simon Royce has scooped a GISC awards double being named Player of the Year and Away Player of the year.

The 36-year-old, who recently put pen to paper on a new one year contract, has been in outstanding form this season and believes that he has another two years left before hanging up his boots. He missed the end of the season with an ankle injury but is now contracted to the club until the summer of 2009.

GISC Supporters of the Year

The GISC Supporter of the Year award is decided by the GISC Executive Committee after receiving nominations from GISC members and Gillingham supporters.

The GISC are delighted to announced that Brian Durden and Robin Tompsett have this season been jointly awarded the GISC Supporter of the Year award.

GISC Supporters of the Year Brian Durden and Robin Tompsett

Brian and Robin are both Rainham End season ticket holders who have been supporting Gillingham for over 30 years. During that time they have only missed a couple of games between them and have walked in snow, wind and rain from Strood to catch the away travel coaches.

Regular away supporters will instantly recognise Brian and Robin who were surprised but delighted to win the
award.
