The GISC Player of the Year award is the original Player of the Year award and has been presented to players such as Brian Yeo, John Simpson, Steve Bruce, Terry Cochrane, Tony Cascarino, Robert Taylor and Paul Smith. It is the only controlled voting award, with all members allocated one vote.
GISC Player of the Year and Away Player of the Year Andy Barcham has made 42 appearances for the Gills this season scoring 8 goals. His impressive performances playing as a midfielder and a striker caught the eye both at Priestfield and away from home. The Away Player of the Year trophy is in memory of the late Gills fan Terry Millen. The picture below shows his brother Peter (left) and his son Kerry (right) with the trophy and tankard destined for Andy Barcham.
Due to the awards announcement taking place prior to Gillingham's
final home game of the season against Southampton the players were
unable to attend, but all awards will presented to the winners in person
during the close season. The Supporter of the Year shield was donated to the GISC by the late Bernie Brown, who was also an avid Gills fan. Paul was presented with his shield and trophy by Bernie`s daughter, Sydnee.
